Character Information
Name: Lance Alvers
Codename: Avalanche
Age/DOB: 23 / 11 July
Affiliations: x-men
Occupation:gainfully unemployed.
Physical Traits:
-185 cm.
-his hair is brown streaked black, to his shoulders and perpetually messy.
-brown eyes
-light brown skin, like a soft tan
Powers: Lance possesses the superhuman ability to generate powerful waves of vibrations (like earthquakes) from his hands, creating highly destructive effects. The vibrations can cause an inorganic object to shatter or crumble into dust, and has in recent years has now been shown to now affect organic matter as well. Avalanche himself is immune to the generation of his vibratory waves. However, if the vibrations were reflected back upon him, he would be injured. Avalanche's power originally had little or no effect on organic tissue, with the reflected vibrations from organic matter ("feedback") injuring him, as when he once tried to attack the Hulk, but lately this has appeared to no longer be the case.
Personality:
Lance has always been fairly anti-social. Nothing interests him enough to attract his attention and he mostly just coasts along life on luck and instantaneous decisions. He won't do anything unless he has to or he's interested in it. He can be a bit of a bully when he needs to, and is perfectly capable of having a snarky conversation. He believes too much in bread to be vengeful. He has a terrible temper but when unprovoked, is fairly tame.
Backgrounder/History:
Lance was of greek heritage, and lived with his family in Illinois for the most part of his childhood. They weren’t exactly well to-do, but they got along. He had a little sister he mostly ignored, but otherwise his family generally got along. He first discovered his power when he was thirteen, and while he thought it was cool he didn’t use it much except to get his own way. Due to lack of practice, he had a poor control over it and when his temper exploded, as it did ever so often, his mutation often got out of control. After holding out for about three years, he accidentally blew his top on his family and exposed his power. This could not have happened at a worse time, espescially since the unhappiness over the mutant situation was just about beginning to peak at that point of time. (think about the same year as X-3) Also, his family was in a bad economical situation and his father was pretty screwed up, not to mention freaked out over the mutant condition. Lance basically bore the brunt of his father’s anger and after awhile, it began to show at school. At one point of time, his parents were called up, and after a not so pleasant show of the family dynamics in the principal’s office, Lance literally brought the entire school to rubble. He ran away from Illlinois, and never looked back. (or so he thought)
He was later found by Mystique, who recruited him to run her errands, but after his father he couldn’t stand being bossed around by anyone. He took it for about a year or so (it payed well and gave him a house) but when he finally couldn’t stand it, he stole as much money as possible and ran to New York.
RPG Information: At New York, he ran into Nori at some sucky bar, where she was having trouble with some of the staff. After saving her life on impulse, the both of them form a shaky friendship over stolen vehicles and eventually arrive at Xavier’s Institute. While Lance is not keen on commiting to any institute, he is still on the run from Mystique and remembers her talk about her hate for the place, hence decides to go with the ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ issue and stay.
At the X-mansion, he continues his friendship with Nori, espescially after she is forced to tutor him in Physics, a class he is failing. Contrary to the subject they are pursuing, the two have alot of chemistry between them but it is not pursued. Also, much to Nori’s disapproval, he forms a friendship with Lorna Dane, as well as a ‘says hi in corridor’ sort of friendship with Tabitha and Jono.
Five year gap summary: It became clear that the world had something against Lance and Highschool, so he just dropped out. The first thing he did was try to locate his family, which, minus his father, he had began to miss. He eventually found them in California, his sister no where in sight, and his very-much-alive father tried one more time to kill him. His mother had died from Cancer and somehow his father blamed it upon his son, who had been missing long before the cancer had set in. Furious and embittered, Lance lost his temper yet again and this time, killed his father.
The anger of this murder gave him the courage he needed to do something he had been contemplating for awhile. He began to blackmail California into paying him a ransom in return for not triggering a massive earthquake there. This led to a fight between him and the hulk, and he ended up breaking every single bone in his arms.
He was found by his sister, who was attending boarding school at that point of time, and they took the time to catch up. His arms eventually began to heal, after a great deal of time, and he found that when he regained use of his arms, his power now allowed him to pass these waves through organic matter as well. His idea of how this happened was still shaky (no pun intended) but he continued to practice use of this new facet to his mutation. Bidding his sister goodbye, he returned to New York, unsure of what the future would bring. There, he used his power to freelance as a fighter of the Friends of Humanity, but only in those instances where trouble found him first.

I hate Christmas in a 'shit-I-haven't-done-any-shopping' kinda way.
And so I'm alive! *waves hands about* If I was vaguely female I would consider sticking my tongue out.
If someone told me I was going to a school for superheroes, where everyone sits around and bloody blogs all day as a homework assignment instead of ridding the world of evil, I would have laughed. No seriously, one would think a super hero school would have something like, I don't know, how-to-train-your-sidekick courses.
I need a book, damnit. Recommend something. In turn I would recommend The Handmaid's tale, chanced upon it some years back. And it it's some ridiculous book on how to control your powers, it's heading straight for your head.

Riight. Halloween.
Yes, i do realise i have like one post here.
Maybe I should glue a few rocks to my shirt. And go as a walking earthquake.
I'm terribly bored. I'm even considering NaNoWriMo, which just about shows the extent of my... boredom.
Forgive the lack of vocabulary. I think I'm going to get some cereal. Eaten right out of the hand, it makes you feel like a bird.

Ah so. I'm here. Wow.
Was just randomly clicking around when I found something that I have a feeling I'm supposed to fill up. Too bad I never really pay attention to instructions. And since no one told me anything about schedules, I'll appreciate it if no one educates me so I can just pretend I didn't know.
For good measure:
the Mandatory Post.
- Name/Alias: Lance Alvers/Avalanche
- Nicknames: Me with a nickname? Laughable.
- Age: 18
- Place of birth: North Brook, Illinois
- Powers: I brought down my highschool to dust. In other words, I rock.
- Loves: Rock. My electric guitar which is currently burried under layers of Rubble God knows where.
- Hates: Blue women with red hair. I'm just saying.

- Favorite singers/bands: Fray, Snow Patrol. Koda Kumi is hot.
- What you want to be when you grow up: Not you.
